At 1700 Riverside County requested mutual aid for a search for a missing hiker on Mt. Baldly. Mono County SAR sent 4 team members to participate in the search, and their search assignment was in the vicinity of the Bear Canyon Trail and the Ski Hut Trails, arriving via a hike along the Devils Backbone, accessed via chairlift and hiking.

The team of 4 bivouacked overnight, resumed their search on the next day (December 13), but then a SAR volunteer from Riverside County lost his life in a fall during the search, and the search was suspended. The field team exited via the Manker Flat Trail. The remains of the hiker were eventually found in July 2020.
